Promises

Promise: So easy to make yet so difficult to keep. Especially the ones that were made to keep others happy. I guess a wise thing to do would be to decline making a promise even if it meant the receiving party would get upset at the first instance, than to make it and have it used against the giving party later.

"Whatever I say doesn't matter, because you'll just find ways to wriggle out of it (the promise)."

I guess when the speaker said that, they were implying that the receiver had issues keeping the promise and potentially more promises in the future and insinuating a flaw in the receiver's character.

A blow with a word strikes deeper than a blow with a sword, indeed.
